Owner-Manager & Complex Tax

Tax compliance is connected to the decisions that create the tax.

Corporate tax is not separate from how an owner is paid, how cash is used, how the company is structured or what happens next.

We connect the return to the business and owner decisions behind it. The objective is accurate compliance, clear explanations and timely identification of matters that deserve further planning.

We work best with incorporated owners who provide reasonable records, value planning and are prepared to
address underlying accounting issues when necessary.
We do not offer bargain tax preparation or unsupported emergency turnaround.

FAQ

What is owner-manager tax planning?

Owner-manager tax planning covers the tax decisions that connect a corporation and its owner: how you are paid, how cash moves between you and the company, corporate structure, and the tax consequences of major business decisions.

Do you prepare corporate tax returns?

Corporate returns can be prepared by our Business.360 CPA team as a defined engagement on their own. Many clients find they get the most value when the corporate return, the owner’s personal return and planning are handled together, since the two are closely connected.

Should I pay myself salary or dividends?

It depends on corporate income, your personal cash needs, your shareholder loan position, RRSP and CPP considerations, and other family income. The right mix changes as the business does, so it is worth revisiting regularly rather than setting once.

When are corporate taxes due?

The T2 return is generally due six months after your fiscal year end, but any balance owing is due earlier, usually within two or three months of year end depending on the corporation. Filing on time while paying late is a common source of interest charges.

How can Business360.CPA help with complex tax?

By connecting the tax work to the decisions behind it. That includes compensation planning, shareholder account issues, reorganizations, succession, CRA correspondence, and the tax consequences of buying, selling or restructuring.

Why choose Business360.CPA for taxes?

Because we like to be involved before year end, not only at filing time. When we understand your plans early, there is room to consider compensation, timing and structure while decisions are still being made, and your return reflects choices made with the full picture in view.

Can you handle CRA correspondence?

Yes, within an agreed scope. Reviews, information requests and issue resolution can form part of an engagement, with the scope defined at the start.

How do we get started?

With a short Fit & Scope call about your business, your role as owner and what you need help with. The call establishes the records and decisions involved, so we can define the work, responsibilities and timing before compliance or planning begins.
